Thanks for taking a look at my blog. It's a bit rough around the edges because its brand new, so please forgive any mistakes you find :)
I'm an English Teacher/Writer who has been living in Japan for more than a year and a half - in Kumamoto since January 2015. Prior to life in Japan I was working in China for 2.5 years.
I started this blog on May 12th 2016, one month after the first of the two major earthquakes we experienced here in Kumamoto. The importance of post-natural disaster tourism was running through my mind, and I was thinking of ways to help promote the local area to get things up and running again.
I have been writing articles for the Japan Info website for over a year and have dozens of articles about local attractions, restaurants and businesses that can be used to promote Kumamoto, and Kyushu in general. So I started this blog so that I could gather all these articles together for people wanting to research what is available to do in Kumamoto since the earthquake. Also, as I lost my job because of the earthquake, the blog is a good way to keep busy while I'm searching for new employment!
My Mum, Dad and little brother visited me here in Japan one week after the earthquake - the holiday had been planned for months and we decided to go ahead with the visit, despite the damage. I had prepared an intricately planned schedule of all the things we would do during their time here in Kumamoto - a plan which quickly went out the window when I realised the extent of the damage. Calling around local attractions (in my oh-so limited Japanese) to see if they were open made me think how useful it would be to have a list available for people to see what the choices are since the earthquake. So that's another reason why I started the PKP blog.
As well as my old articles focussing on local tourism, I will be writing new articles about the importance of post-natural disaster tourism and about the earthquake itself.
If you know of a local attraction, restaurant or business that needs promoting since the quake, please let me know - I'd love to write more articles and help to get more businesses up and on their feet again.
Also, if you would like to advertise on this blog, get in touch (local businesses only please - Kyushu in general but particularly Kumamoto and other hard-hit areas like Aso).

Thanks and get in touch to let me know what you think of my new blog - I'd love to hear your thoughts.
