Kumamoto Nature Parks (Kitaoka / Tatsuda)

At the time of writing (15/05/16) the Tatsuda Nature Park in Kumamoto is still closed following the quake, and the Kitaoka Nature Park (near the train station) is probably still closed too. I called up to inquire as to whether they were open about ten days after the earthquake, and was told that they weren't and they had no idea when the parks would open again. I'm not sure about the extent of the damage. Today I cycled up to the entrance of the Tatsuda Nature Park and found it closed, without signs to indicate when it will open again.

As the parks are not essential services I guess there will be no rush to get them open again, so for the meanwhile I'm going to presume they are closed until I hear otherwise (and will update this page as soon as I know they're open again). In the meanwhile, phone numbers for both parks can be found here on the Manyou-Kumamoto page if you want to call and make inquiries.
