Fukuoka is just a hop and a skip away from Kumamoto (especially on the super-speedy Shinkansen) and makes a great day trip - but if you fancy staying a little longer, this budget hotel is a top choice. Only minutes away from the Hakata Station, this hotel is well located and fairly priced to say that you are staying in the center of a major city.
Just across the road is the other Hakata Green Hotel, which I believe is a little fancier. Both are perfectly located for whatever you want to do in Fukuoka - being right next to the Hakata Station is a fantastic springboard to get you wherever you want to go. Not to mention that you're surrounded by restaurants and stores - awesome location!
