Accommodation - Nakazono Ryokan in Kagoshima

If you've been following my recent posts about tourist attractions in Kagoshima and are thinking to yourself 'Great, that's my next holiday destination... now where shall I stay...?' then look no further than the Nakazono Ryokan.

My family and I had actually been due to stay there a week following the earthquake - I'd stayed there in 2015 and liked it so much I wanted to take my family there, and we'd had it booked for months. However, because of the Shinkansen between Kumamoto and Kagoshima being non-operational in the days following the earthquakes it was impossible for us to make it.

During the days prior to our intended stay, Mr Nakazono (owner of the Ryokan) was constantly in contact with me - checking where we were, if we were safe, if my family were ok... and when we had to cancel our booking at the last minute he didn't charge us anything either. What a wonderful human being! As well as being kind and considerate, he also runs a top notch, good value Ryokan that is well situated and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone making an extended trip to Kagoshima.
