One of my favourite places to visit in Kumamoto, I almost squeaked down the phone when I discovered that the Reigando Cave and 500 Buddha Statues had survived the earthquake and were open for business within a week. While many major tourist attractions in the city are unable to accept visitors, this attraction is very much open and well worth a visit.
While it is unfortunate that places like the Kumamoto Castle are not open to the public, a plus side is that often over-looked attractions such as the awesome one listed here might get a boost in public opinion with many more visitors over the months and years to come. A top tourist attraction!
